National Weather Observers Day, May 4th
May the Fourth be with you. Do you always have The Weather Channel on? Get upset when a storm wasn’t as strong as you wanted it to be? Well May 4th is your day to celebrate!
May 4th is National Weather Observers Day! Did you know that the National Weather Service has a SKYWARN Spotter program, where everyday citizens can help report on weather? Often, especially in rural areas, it can be difficult for weather stations to get the most up to date information, from the ground. Spotters can be trained to understand weather, track, and report it online. The National Weather Service actually offers classes to be trained, in a variety of levels! Can’t make it to a training? Don’t worry, they also offer online classes!
