Professor Graybeard (John Wicks) has been a Science Guy since 2005. The “Professor” was born in Minnesota before moving to East Tennessee at age 11. Fascinated with dinosaurs as a child, he has many happy memories of visits to the Science Museum in St. Paul with his grandmother. John earned a BA in Mass Communications with a minor in speech and theater from MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. After graduation he worked in the video production industry for many years before moving to Japan to teach English as a second language for 5 years. He eventually moved into curriculum development before returning to the United States to work in Information Technology. Keith and John met at a local Nashville coffee shop and soon became friends with a shared interest in education and alternate teaching methods. The 5th graders had a wonderful experience with Mr. Gray Beard. He came in the classroom with lots of enthusiasm and skills for the children to learn. The children learned about force and motion by making a rap that would keep a marble on the rap as long as possible. The students were excited and challenge. I was so privileged to experience Mr. John Wicks at Union City, TN today! He was production savvy, crowd management magician, and so knowledgeable! He taught me about rotational force, and I am an amateur science lover! I could not find a place to leave a review so decided to comment here! I teach preschool, but am an English, French teacher, librarian, and registered nurse. I admire Renaissance man professors wherever I meet them!
